Made our first vacation into Alaska with Jim Mulvihill Tours. We had travel
with this tour group once before 6 years ago when we travel into Quebec -
Ontario, Canada. This tour company did an excellent job then, so we knew to
expect the same. We were not surprised at all. Trip was well planned and all
matters related to our transportation, comfort, food and tours was done
extremely well.
We had 48 persons traveling in this tour not counting the tour director, Clay
Carol and the bus drivers. Everyone was very nice and easy to talk to. We made
many friends on this trip. Below are some pictures that we took. Some pictures
are not shown of some cities because we bought postcards which often did a
better job of portraying the area or city.
We began our trip by departing Lafayette, La. arriving in Whitehorse, Yukon
on September 3, 2005
Whitehorse, Yukon
The next day we traveled to Dawson City, Yukon. This a very long bus ride. We
made many stops on the way and discovered some very beautiful scenery.
Whitehorse to Dawson City Road Trip
Arriving in Dawson City, Yukon we immediately discover that the landscape,
lifestyles and the folks had changed. There is a different way of life here.
Dawson City, Yukon
From Dawson City we set ride over the "Top of World Highway"
crossing the border into Alaska visiting destinations of Chicken, AK, Tok, AK
and eventually to Fairbanks, AK.
Dawson City - Fairbanks Road Trip
In Fairbanks we toured the city and visited the museum of North Alaska. The
next day we received a surprise, rather than taking a bus trip to Denali, AK, we
were to travel by train with lunch on board. Along the train ride we saw several
Moose and wonderful sights. The bus would pick us up at the depot and take us to
our lodge for the night.
Fairbanks - Denali Tour
After arriving in Denali, we were taken for a 4 hour tour of Denali National
Park. What a beautiful wilderness. We saw several bears, Grizzly and Black Bears
and Mountain Sheep.
Denali National Park
The next day we traveled from Denali to Anchorage, making a few stops along
the way.
Denali - Anchorage Road Trip
Leaving Anchorage, we toured the city. Although it was raining and breezy we
saw how the citizens lived and traveled. We headed to Seward, AK where we are to
board our cruise ship, Vision of the Sea. Along the way we stop several sites.
Anchorage - Seward Road Trip
Now we boarded our cruise ship and enjoyed 7 days of sailing to many inland
ports.
Cruise by
"Vision of the Sea"
Various pictures of on board cruising can be seen here. On the last night of
our cruise we saw several Orcas Whales.
Tour Group Pictures
I hope you get to visit Alaska and the Yukon someday. It has been a very
memorable experience for us. The wilderness and the difference lifestyle made
our journey worthwhile. The scenery is the best in the world.
