This web site is dedicated to my family and hobbies. Veronica
"Ronnie" Landry married me on September 6, 1969. Our family has grown
quite large in the last few years, with both of our children, Bart and Shelley,
having married and as the result, several grandchildren. See the Photo Album
link for a few of the family pictures. Ronnie retired in 2004 after 30 years in the elementary school teaching
profession. I have been employed since February 1976 with a local banking
institution and retired in May 2006. We both love to travel - eating fine
cuisines and experiencing different cultures, visiting
friends, NASCAR races and movies.
We live in Rayne, Louisiana, a small friendly city community located on
Interstate 10 approximately 18 miles west of Lafayette, Louisiana. We are
located approximately 40 miles north of the Gulf of Mexico as the crow fly's.
Rayne's population is approximately 10,000 and is the cleanest city for
its size in the state of Louisiana. To its credit, it has won many
Cleanest City Contest. The biggest event that occurs here annually is the
Frog Festival in early September. Large crowds converge on the city to
enjoy fine foods, music, dancing, handicrafts, frog jumping and the fair.
If you happen to visit, be sure to view the many city Murals painted on
commercial buildings depicting our Cajun Culture. The Chamber of Commerce
can assist with tours. Click on www.rayne.org
for more information.
We moved in April 2005 to a new home in Rayne, which grants us a more
suitable residence for our retirement years, less living space and low
maintenance. We assume that in our retirement years, we will want to
travel more and not stay home to maintain a residence. We are thinking of
buying a travel trailer to utilize in our travels throughout the USA.
I have many hobbies, but Amateur Radio holds my main interest. Having moved
recently to a new QTH (residence), I have been able to expand my antenna system
and improve my operating conditions considerable. View the About NA5Q
link for more information.
I have many more hobbies, which include computer programming, fishing,
hunting, traveling and gardening. In the early spring and fall, I spend plenty
of time in the garden growing delicious and healthy vegetables. The harvest
often exceeds our consumption, so we enjoy giving fresh vegetables to our
neighbors, friends and family.
